Eligibility Criteria for becoming a Electro Technical Officer :
(1) The age of candidate should be between 25 to 35 years at the time of commencement of the course.
(2) The candidate should have a good eyesight.
(3) The candidate should be mentally and physically fit.
(4) The candidate should not be colourblind.
(5) The candidate should have completed electrical engineering.
(6) The electrical engineering graduates should do a 12 months long ETO course in order to work as a Electro Technical Officer in Merchant Navy.

(4) After considerable amount of experience the company promotes the trainee electrical engineer to a Electro Technical Officer.
Salary of ETO in Merchant Navy :
The Electro Technical Officer or ETO is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all the electrical machineries and equipments onboard ship.
The salary of the ETO is as follows –
(1) Electrical Cadet – USD 400 to USD 700
(2) Trainee Electrical Officer – USD 1200 to USD 3500
(3) Electro Technical Officer or ETO – USD 3500 to USD 6500
